Callout to assist HantSAR search for a missing suicidal male. He had tried hanging himself before and was believed to be in possession of a knife. Matt and Andy were available to assist as operational supports however Hampshire Search and Rescue Dogs had sufficient help in this role.

The team were initially put on stand by then were called out at 14:59 to assist Hampshire Search Dogs search for a missing 22 year old male in the Eiling area. Wendy was available for immediate deployment with Matt available a short while later. Wendy was tasked to support Pam with Search Dog Kai (from Hampshire). They searched muddy tracks, down into an open field towards a busy main road. After searching for approximately one hour, the team were called back to base as the male had been found safe elsewhere.

Dorset Search Dogs callout to search for a 71 year old female missing from her home in Charmouth, West Dorset. Jane with search dog Rhea was assisted by Steve and Wendy. They searched local woods and around ponds into the early hours. The lady was found safe and well the next morning. Click here to read local news story

Callout to LYNDHURST to assist HantSAR search for a missing 45 year old female. It was believed she would be safe harming and endangering herself. Wendy and Laurence deployed to support Jane and search dog Rhea. The team were stood down on route (at 1900 hrs) when the female was located safe and well.

The team were called by Dorset Police to help search for a missing female who had run away from ambulance staff having taken an overdose. Matt responded with search dog Charlie with Andy, Wendy, Shelley and Laurence all available to support. This was Wendy and Shelley’s first callout. On the teams arrival, the missing person walked out of hiding and into the care of the search team.

The team were put on standby to search for a missing male, aged 70, believed to be camping near to a railway line. Steve, Nina, Jane and Matt were available to assist with the search, if required, but fortunately, enquiries revealed that the man was of sound mind, healthy and was interested in Railway architecture. He was using a camp as a base but attracting concern from members of the public.

Callout to the GOSPORT area to search for a 57 year old male despondent. Unfortunately, no dog teams could deploy immediately due to an exceptionally hot day. Not only would have this been difficult to work the dogs in the heat but the scent would not have been easily detected. Arrangements were put in place for dog teams to move in during the cooler evening. Fortunately, the person was located prior to any dog team involvement.

Callout to search for missing Doug Brown in the RINGWOOD area. Jane searched with Rhea, supported by Andy. The team searched for three hours into the night. The missing person was located safe and well the next day thanks to social media appeals. Click here for report in Bournemouth Echo

Callout to assist Dorset Police search for Sandy GLYN. Sandy’s vehicle was located on the overcliff at Southbourne Beach. Dorset Search Dogs, assisted by Kev (and Zak) from Hampshire Search and Rescue Dogs, were tasked to search the cliff sides, zig zags, beach huts, prom and shoreline. Matt (with Charlie), Steve (with Oscar) were supported by Nina and Andy. Indications were that Sandy had entered the water. The team were placed on standby on the following day however all the search areas were already exhausted. Unfortunately, Sandy’s body was washed ashore on 20th February 2015, confirming everyones fears. Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Sandy. Click here for the Bournemouth Echo Report

Callout to assist Dorset Police search for missing Keith MOORES who went missing that morning in the HIGHCLIFFE area. Jane (with Search Dog Rhea), Steve (with Search Dog Oscar) and Matt (with Search Dog Charlie) searched into the night with Heather and Laurence supporting. The team covered large open areas, dense woodland and responded quickly to possible sightings to males matching the description in the area. The team were stood down at 0100 hrs once all possible areas in the vicinity could be searched. With the team prepared to continue any search efforts required the next day, the team were stood down when the male was located safe and well several miles away. Click for report Bournemouth Echo
