Callout to assist HantSAR and Lowland Search Dogs Southern search for a missing 38 year old suicidal man near to the NEW PARK show ground, BROCKENHURST. Matt and Charlie arrived at the Rv. at 13:00 with Erica and Freya arriving a short while afterwards. The team were not deployed as fresh information came into the police concerning the man’s whereabouts. The team were kept in reserve in case an immediate search of an area was required. The manmade contact with the police and the search efforts were stood down at 15:00.

Callout to assist Portland Coastguard search for a missing kite surfer in POOLE HARBOUR. The kite had been found jettisoned in the water and it was feared that someone may either be in trouble within the water or in difficulties somewhere along the shoreline. Matt, search dog Charlie and Laurence supporting, all responded but were stood down prior to deployment as enquiries into the found equipment continued. Callout to assist HantSAR and Lowland Search Dogs Southern search for a missing 43 year old male, described as having severe learning difficulties. He was missing since the evening before in the BROCKENHURST area. Matt and Charlie were immediately on route with Erica and Freya soon to attend. The team, however, were stood down on route when the male was located safe and well.

Standby to assist Portland Coastguard search a large area in the Solent due to the discovery of a recently sunk Yacht. The yacht, Nicola, appeared to have been set a drift unmanned before it sank off the Dorset Coast. The owners were traced, alive and well, out of the country! Matt and Erica were standing by with search dogs Charlie and Freya, respectively. The team were stood down at 02:29 hours that same night.

Callout to assist Lowland Search Dogs Southern search for a missing 14 year old female who went missing in the woods following a party. No Dorset Search Dogs were available to assist with this search. It was during this search that search dog Zak, handled by Kev from LSDSOUTHERN, went missing. Zak had got snagged on a branch in deep vegetation. The female turned up safe and well but now all search efforts were directed towards finding the hero search dog Zak. The police dedicated a great resource to help find Zak, even directing the police helicopter to search the area on its way back from another tasking. With no heat sources visible from the helicopter the team went back in with Animal Rescue teams and USAR national team on standby in case Zak had fallen into some unused tunnels. Fortunately, Zak found his way to safety, looking somewhat dishevelled, still carrying clues that he was trapped on his fur! A huge thank you to Hampshire Police for their superb efforts in coordinating the search!

Standby to assist Surrey Search Dogs find a missing 34 year old female missing from St PETERS HOSPITAL, OTTERSHAW. Matt and search dog Charlie were available to attend if required however the team were stood down at 21:07 as the search efforts were winding down for the night. 02 October 2011 17:55 hrs. Day 2 of search for the male missing in PARK GATE. No dogs were available to attend. Andy was preparing to support Southern dogs later however, the team were stood down at 22:16 hours, prior to deployment. UPDATE: Woman found safe after missing for six days. Daily Echo Report

After a period of the team being placed on standby, the team were called at 12:46 to assist DorSAR and Dorset Police Search for missing NICHOLAS CROCKER. Information suggested that the 55 year old male may have been in possession of a firearm. Although no search dogs were required, Matt and Laurence were preparing to search on foot that evening. The team were placed on standby to potentially help search for a missing 15 year old, blind despondent in the BOTLEY area, HAMPSHIRE. Erica was prepared to search with Freya, supported by Matt. The team, however, were stood down at 13:05 once the male had been located safe and well.

Matt and Erica responded to a request by DorSAR and Dorset Police to search for a missing 64 year old male, suffering with dementia. Unfortunately, search dog Charlie had picked up a slight injury a few days earlier so was unable to join the team and search dog Freya for the search near SHORE ROAD, POOLE. The team were stood down at 00:56 when police enquiries resulted in the male being found safe and well. He had fallen, earlier, some distance away from the place last seen in Bournemouth, suffering with concussion.

The team were placed on standby to search for Leanne Turnball, 34, missing in the ALTON area of HAMPSHIRE. Matt and Charlie were initially available with Laurence supporting. At 15:48 the team were then called to assist. Matt and Charlie were now unable to attend but Laurence attended, searching with foot teams until just after 2200 hrs. Matt and search dogs Charlie assist HantSAR, Lowland Search Dogs Southern and Hampshire Constabulary search for a missing 42 year old female from the ELLISFIELD area of BASINGSTOKE. Matt and Charlie, supported by Erin from HantSAR searched 10 kms of routes and paths through heavily overgrown woodland near to the female’s home address. Paul, with search dog Sam, searched a similar distance in an adjacent area in the same woodland. The team finished this search, following 3 hours of hard work, at 06:20 hours. After a quick snooze in the car, Matt and Charlie redeployed to work a further 6 km route through local woodland. Erica, with search dog Freya, arrived on scene but were stood down on arrival, along with the rest of the team when the lady was located.

CALLOUT to BORDON, Hampshire to search for a missing 19 year old male. The male was described to be suffering from learning difficulties and feeling despondent. He was missing since 07:30 hours that morning. Matt with search dog Charlie were on route but were stood down on the way when the male was located.

CALLOUT to assist Dorset Police locate a missing long distance runner who had failed to turn up following her planned run between LULWORTH and SWANAGE. Matt and Erica were on route with search dogs Charlie and Freya. Fortunately, the 30 year old female turned up safe and well in Swanage. One of her dogs got into difficulty and became injured along the route.

The search continued for the missing elderly male in the ELVETHAM HEATH area of FLEET. Matt and Charlie responded and searched a large nature research surrounded by the ELVETHAM HEATH housing estate. They were supported by a local police officer. The search was very boggy underfoot with very dense vegetation to work through. Matt and Charlie departed following approximately four hours of searching. The male was later located by Kev and search dog Zak from LSDSouthern in another nature reserve. He was located alive but fairly unwell.

The team were placed on standby for a missing 14 year old. She was missing from the WINCHESTER area and had a previous history of attempting self harm. At 20:53 hours the team were called out by HantSAR and LSDSOUTHERN to assist. Matt (with search dog Charlie), Erica (with search dog Freya) and Laurence all responded. They were stood down on route when the missing girl was located safe and well.

The team were called out to to assist with the search of a missing 46 year old female from PARKLANDS HOSPITAL, BASINGSTOKE. She had been missing since 20:20 hours the night previous. The team were stood down at 07:17 hours prior to departure. The female had been located by Joe, search dog Milo and Soraya from LSDSouthern

The team were placed on standby to assist HantSAR search for a missing 18 year old female suffering with bi-polar and depression. At 16:38 the team were stood down due to there being insufficient areas for dogs to safely search. Despite this, at 19:58 hours, the missing person was located by Daz from LSDSouthern.

The team were put on standby to assist HantSAR and LSDSouthern search for a missing 46 year old despondent. She had been missing since the Tuesday in the HAVANT area of Hampshire. At 13:55 hours, the team were then called out to assist. At 16:39 hours the missing person was located prior to the teams attendance.

Callout to assist WilSAR search the hillsides of STEEPLE LANGFORD and HANGING LANGFORD, Wiltshire, for a missing 57 year old despondent male. He was last seen on the previous day walking in the area. Matt and Charlie searched the hillsides near bounded by Dinton Drive, Wylye Road, Second Broad Drive and the byway. This was a large and relatively open steep sided area. The day was particularly warm which made search conditions fairly uncomfortable for Charlie. The team were supported by Gail from WilSAR. All teams were stood down when the male was located safe and well, by police, in a different county.

Callout to assist HantSAR for their second search of the day. This search was in order to look for a missing 68 year old male suffering with memory loss and M.S. Matt and Laurence were still available later that evening however they were stood down as search efforts were coming to a close for that night.

20 March 2011. 09:00. Callout to SAVERNAKE FOREST, WILTSHIRE to assist WilSAR search for missing 22 year old Sian O’CALLAGHAN. She was last seen leaving a local nightclub the previous night and had not been seen since. Her phone was last known to be used on the network in the forest. Matt, Laurence and Steve attended with search dog Charlie, searching for approximately 3 hours doing a combination of areas and hasty searches within the forest. UPDATE: Following this search, over 400 members of the public assisted with extended search efforts in SAVERNAKE FOREST. Following CCTV enquiries, a taxi driver was arrested and during interview the taxi driver, Christopher Halliwell, indicated that he abducted Sian O’CALLAGHAN and gave the police the whereabouts of her body and another of a second females body, abducted from the Swindon area some years previous. Sian’s body was recovered near UFFINGTON in OXFORDSHIRE. Our thoughts are with Sian’s family and friends. BBC NEWS UPDATE

Matt (with Charlie) and Erica (with FREYA) were on route with Laurence supporting and Steve attending later. The team were stood down on route when the male was located safe and well in the POOLE QUAY area.

Matt (with Charlie), Erica (with Freya), Laurence and Steve all responded but were stood down on arrival just as the person was located.

Callout to assist DorSAR and Dorset Police search for a missing male in the Durlston Country Park and Old Harry Rocks area of SWANAGE. Jessie Jones, 24 was last seen in East Bar in the early hours of the Sunday morning. He failed to turn up at his place of work on the Monday. Erica and Freya searched several paths throughout the day. Unfortunately, his body was found on the shoreline close to Old Harry Rocks some days later. Click here for the BBC NEWS STORY

The team were put on standby to assist Sussex Search Dogs search for a missing 78 year old female from BOLNEY near HAYWARDS HEATH. Fortunately, despite a cold night, the lady was found safe and well in her dressing gown and slippers by a member of the public. The team were stood down at 09:36.

Callout to assist DorSAR and Dorset Police Search for a missing male from St Anne Hospital in Poole. Matt (with Charlie), Erica (with Freya), Laurence and Andy all responded. The team were stood down on arrival at the RV when the missing male was located safe and well nearby, by police officers. Many thanks to members from LSDSouthern who were turned round on route.

The team were put on standby to assist Sussex Search Dogs search for a missing 82 year old male from the EAST GRINSTEAD area of WEST SUSSEX. The male was believed to be suffering from an Alzheimer’s/dementia type illness. Erica and search dog Freya were ready to deploy with Matt and Charlie available later on during the day. The team were stood down, prior to deployment, as there were plenty of local resources already searching the urban areas.
