On route back from the call out below, Andy and Matt diverted to assist Hampshire police locate a missing 71 year old male suffering from dementia in the NEW MILTON area. He was located safe and well whilst the team were getting notification of their third call out to Hampshire in one night.

Standby to assist Portland Coastguard search for a missing 32 year old male in MUDEFORD. His grey boat was later found in the surf at Chewton Bunny, Hampshire, while his car was found at Mudeford Quay. Unfortunately the missing males body was later found near by. Click here for BBC News

Callout out by Dorset Police for day 2 of the search for the missing male on Canford Heath. This was a dog only call out, deliberately planned to be conducted at night when various members of the public would be off of the heath and thereby increasing the dogs capabilities of picking a scent up from a long distance away. Matt and Charlie were supported by Katrina from Berkshire Search Dogs whilst Gary and Andy helped support Vanessa and Paul with Dog Sam from Lowland Search Dogs Southern. A large area was cleared by the team whilst an additional two hasty dogs from Sussex searched Broadstone Crematorium. The team searched as much as they could before being stood down at 02:45 hours. Callout to search for a missing 35 year old male believed to be missing on Canford Heath, Poole. Charlie and Matt responded quickly conducting a large wooded area on the heath. In the afternoon, Matt and Charlie were joined by Steve and John with their hasty dog and together they searched a large area on the heath, south of the crematorium. The days searching was tough. Charlie kept up a good endurance despite very dense vegetation.

Callout to assist HantSAR search for a missing 13 year old boy believed to be in the SALISBURY area of HAMPSHIRE. Matt and Charlie responded but luckily didn’t even make it to the car before they were stood down. The male was located safe and well some three miles away from his point last seen.

Callout by DorSAR to assist Dorset Police locate a missing 86 year old. Suffering with dementia, she had been missing from her home address in SWANAGE overnight. Rob was first to arrive at the RV and was soon joined by Matt and search dog Charlie. The team had just been allocated an area to search when news came through that she had been found wandering into a nearby shop.

Callout to assist Dorset Police search for a missing female aged in her 40’s. Her car was located in RAMSDOWN PLANTATION car park during the night. Matt and Charlie with Andy and Cath supporting searched a large area of the woodland. In the morning light, the team were supported by DorSAR, specialist police tracking teams and additional dogs from Sussex Search dogs. With a large area of the wood still to be searched, the lady was found by a member of the public in the late morning.

Callout to assist HantSAR and Hampshire Constabulary search for a missing male in the FAIR OAK area of HAMPSHIRE. Matt with search dog Charlie responded, initially supported by Dave from HantSAR. The team covered a large area of woodland with a search lasting just shy of 4 hours. Following a break, Matt and Charlie teamed up with LSD Southern to tackle another large wooded area. Pam from LSD Southern supported Matt and Charlie. At 22:15 hours, Charlie found the missing male.

Callout by Dorset Police to assist them look for a missing 87 year old diabetic who had gone for a walk and not returned home. Andy and Matt responded to search areas of CHRISTCHURCH but before Charlie had an opportunity to get out of the car the team were stood down. The male was found by a DorSAR member who lived nearby to the search area and made a start ahead of other DorSAR members.

Callout to assist Dorset Police search for a 74 year old male missing from his home in WAREHAM. Cath and Matt (with search dog Charlie), searched areas of CAREY WOOD but due to difficulties access the area, only half of the wood was covered. The Dorset Police press release appeals for information.

Callout to assist DorSAR and Dorset Police search for a missing 81 year old male, with dementia, who got lost in PARKSTONE when getting off the bus. Matt and Andy, with search dog Charlie, searched wooded areas near SEA VIEW and then parts of the BOURNE VALLEY Nature Reserve in ROSSMORE. The team stood down at approximately 05:15 hours, having found no indications of the males whereabouts. The male was found in the morning, safe and well, in a residential front garden in PARKSTONE.

Callout by Dorset Police and Portland Coastguard to assist in the search for a missing 81 year old female believed to be missing near Canford School and the river. Matt, Cath and Andy were all ready to walk out the door and attend when they were stood down minutes later once the lady was found safe and well in another area (several miles away).

Callout to assist Solent Coastguard search for a missing 15 year old boy in WEST WITTERING BEACH area near CHICHESTER. Matt was on route with Charlie, ready to join Vanessa from the Hampshire based team who was already on scene searching. The team were stood down on route when it was suspected that the emergency call was a malicious hoax from a drunken teenager. The male was found within the hour by Coastguard.

Callout to YATELY, HAMPSHIRE to assist Lowland Search Dogs – Southern search for a male who disappeared from his home two days previous. Matt & Charlie, supported by Ali (LSD Southern) searched part of an area which had not been searched due to another dog becoming injured. The day was very hot and the air was still, which made thorough searching very difficult. The police continue to follow up leads into potential sightings of this male.

Callout to assist Dorset Police search for a male which had been walking in the sun all day without a drink. He text home to say he was feeling ill and would lay in a ditch for a while. Nothing further was heard from him. The most likely areas which the male would be found in were established. Matt, Gary and search dog Charlie worked through the night in an area near to YETMINSTER. The team covered as much ground as possible within this area before foot based teams arrived in the morning. In the morning, the male turned his phone back on and was eventually found safe and well.

Callout to assist Dorset Police in the search of an elderly female, with alzheimers, missing from her home in BOURTON near GILLINGHAM. Matt and Charlie (supported by Gary) searched long routes, paths and areas whilst Rob and Andy conducted foot searches. Daz from the Hampshire based dog team coordinate efforts. The whole team searched through the night. DorSAR started to search the next morning with foot based teams. She was eventually found safe and well by a member of the public. The lady believed that she’d been in here bed all night!

Callout to assist Dorset Police in the search for a missing despondent male, missing in the Branksome Chine area. Matt and Charlie, supported by Andy and Cath searched the grounds of St Anne’s Hospital, then along the seafront towards BRANKSOME DEAN CHINE. Charlie found three seperate individuals that were sleeping rough before being stood down at 02:30 hours.

Callout to assist Dorset Police and DorSAR look for a 50 year old despondent lady missing since the previous morning. Charlie, Matt and Andy worked all day covering five seperate areas. The marsh beds proved difficult to access with reeds over 6ft tall. Charlie was able to pick out a few routes but most either double backed on themselves or ran into deep, inaccessible mud. The team were stood down just after 15:30 when the lady was located safe and well 6km away from all of the search efforts.

Callout to HOLWORTH, near WINFRITH, DORSET. Missing female despondent. Matt and Charlie, supported by Andy, Rob and Gary searched nearby fields and a coppice. Barbed wire fences and heavy clay made the searching hard work but the two key areas were completed just after 0100 hours when the lady was found safe and well by a DorSAR foot team, further south.

Callout to assist Dorset Police in the search for a 87 year old male missing somewhere in RINGWOOD FOREST, VERWOOD. The male was slow on his feet and had been missing for some 9 hours. Matt & Charlie, joined by Rob, Cath and Andy, searched the southern path whilst police units searched a Northern path. The male was located just after midnight on the northern path.

Standby to assist Portland Coastguard and Dorset Police. A pile of clothes were located on CHRISTCHURCH QUAY. There were concerns that an individual may have tried to commit suicide by going into the water. The team were stood down 20 minutes later when the clothes were accounted for. A local resident informed the police that other local residents wash a homeless persons clothing and leave them by the river for him to collect at his convenience.

Callout by Portland Coastguard and Dorset Police to assist in the search for a missing despondent 34 year old male at HENGISTBURY HEAD, BOURNEMOUTH. Matt and Charlie responded with Duncan, Andy and Rob assisting. The team cleared a large area and were just about to commence a search on the spit when the male walked out of the area and into the care of the police.

Callout to assist Dorset Police in the search for a male believed to be missing on the Bournemouth and Poole Seafront. The team were joined by Lowland Search Dogs Southern and worked alongside volunteers from DorSAR and the Coastguard. A total of four dogs worked as a team searching a large area of BRANKSOME CHINE, POOLE. The team were stood down at midnight having searched all the viable areas. The male turned up safe and well later that night having been in an area away from the search efforts.

Callout to assist HantSAR and HAMPSHIRE Constabulary search for a missing 38 year old female in the GOSPORT area of HAMPSHIRE. Matt and Gary were available to assist but due to sufficient support already at scene and long travelling times involved it was felt the search would be winding down for the night at the time the team would have arrived on location. The team were therefore stood down for the night.

01 February 2009 – 07 FEBRUARY 2009 – Callout to ASCENSION ISLAND, SOUTH ATLANTIC. Female missing since 19th December 2008. Matt and Charlie responded with Rob supporting, teaming up with the SURREY POLICE victim recovery dogs. The team searched daily, having early starts and late evenings in order to beat the hot climate. A good consistent wind made searching just a little bit easier over the very rough, volcanic terrain. Callout to assist HantSAR and Hampshire Constabulary search for a missing 78 year old male from SOBERTON. With heavy rain and high winds forecast for the night, Matt and Charlie responded with Andy and Rob supporting. Charlie searched an area adjacent to a dismantled railway line, near to where the male was last seen earlier that day. Despite a large search effort from the team, foot searchers and police units, the male was not located. The team was stood down for the night at approximately 02:45 hours.
Update 22 January 2009 – The search effort continued in the earlier hours of the morning by HantSAR and Lowland Search Dogs Southern. The male was located deceased in a different area. Click for article in Daily Echo

Callout by Dorset Police at 0830 hours following the discovery of an upturned car, abandoned on the A350. Information would suggest that the occupant may be injured nearby so Matt and Charlie assisted in the search area. Matt and Charlie searched the nieghbouring fields, hedgerows and woods for approximately two hours but had no further leads. Click here to see BBC News article.

Callout to CANFORD HEATH, POOLE. Matt and Charlie were first to deploy. On route to the search location, Andy spotted a male that matched the description but was unable to turn his vehicle around fast enough to locate him. Matt and Charlie, supported by Andy, redeployed in the area where he was seen. Rob, Gary and Duncan were on route. The police helicopter, Oscar 99, spotted the male and guided the team into his location using their night sun spotlight. On their arrival, the team guided paramedics into their remote location and together, they established that the male needed immediately evacuation. Oscar 99 landed on the heath and the male was evacuated to hospital.
